Life Lessons from a Child's Perspective

Good evening my sisters. I know they say it's still winter but how wonderful this weather has been. Tonight our pearl is a little different.

We always try to share original writings that God has dropped into our spirits but today... well this came to me via email & I just wanted to share this nugget with you guys.

Remember ladies don't sweat the small stuff & enjoy the daily blessings what ever they are that God gives us.

A veterinarian,had been called to examine an old Irish Wolfhound. The dog's owners, and their little boy, were all very attached and were hoping for a miracle.
After being examined it was confirmed the dog was dying of cancer & nothing could be done. The family decided to have the euthanasia procedure done for their old dog in their home.

As the arrangements were made they also thought it would be good for their little boy to observe the procedure because he might learn something from the experience.
The next day, as the family surrounded the dog. The young boy seemed calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that they wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, the dog slipped peacefully away.
The little boy seemed to accept his dogs transition without any difficulty or confusion. As they sat together, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. The young boy, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why..."
"People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life-- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?"

"Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

  • When loved ones come home, always run to greet them;
  • · Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride;
  • · Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face be pure ecstasy;
  • · Take naps;
  • · Stretch before rising;
  • · Run, romp, and play daily;
  • · Let people get close to you;
  • · Avoid biting when a simple growl will do;
  • · On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass;
  • · On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree;
  • · When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body;
  • · Delight in the simple joy of a long walk;
  • · Be loyal;
  • · Never pretend to be something you're not;
  • · If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it;
  • · When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently;

Surround yourself with people who make you laugh.

Focus on the good things in life & forget the bad.

Love the people who treat you right & pray for those who don't.

Find joy in everyday life because life can be short.

Love ,

Cheryl
